Borough Tax Information

Important Tips from the Tax Collector:

  1. Property Owners Must Be Certain Tax Bills Go to the Correct Addresses:

The following is the Responsibility of the Property Owner to ensure that tax bills go to the correct address:
All new home purchases in the borough, require the new property owner to inform the tax collector of the address of the Mortgage holder and if there is no Mortgage holder, then the name and address where tax bills are to be sent.
All refinanced mortgages need to be reported as to the new mortgage holders’ address.
If you change the Mortgage holder, due to (EX: lower rates) you need to report the new Mortgage holder and address.
When your mortgage is paid off, it is your responsibility to inform the tax collector and give an address to where tax bills are to be sent.
If your property is a rental property, you must inform the tax collector of the Mortgage holder and address. If there is no Mortgage holder, then the address of the property owner. If the property owner should move, you need to notify the tax collector of the property owner’s new address.
All the above should also be reported to the Allegheny County Tax Office and your Insurance Company.

2.  What To Do When Paying Off Mortgages:

Residents who have paid off their mortgage recently are advised to immediately do the following:

                   1. Notify your Local Tax Collector
                   2. Notify Allegheny County Tax Office
                   3. Notify your Insurance Company
The same protocols apply if your mortgage is sold to another company or if you refinance your home.  
It is the Homeowners responsibility to notify these people and/or agencies of any changes in the mailing address of Tax Statements.
