Dumpster permits are required in Chalfant for dumpsters and Bagsters. The cost of a permit is $30/month if the dumpster is to be located on public property (street) and free for the first 30 days if located on private property (driveway), then $30/month thereafter. To apply for a dumpster permit , please complete the below application and return with payment if applicable to: Chalfant Borough, 144 Lynnwood Avenue, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112.

PRC Hard to Recycle Event: August 1, 2026

RESIDENTS CAN DISPOSE OF HARD TO RECYCLE
MATERIALS IN MCKEESPORT ON AUGUST 1
Residents in need of disposing electronics, tires, Styrofoam,
and freon-containing devices can register to drop off materials on
August 1, in the parking lot of McKeesport Area High School. This
collection in McKeesport is part of the County’s ongoing Hard To

Recycle program conducted in partnership with Pennsylvania
Resources Council.
At this one-day Hard To Recycle collection event at McKeesport
Area High School, individuals can drop off electronics, tires,
Styrofoam, and freon-containing appliances.

Mon Valley area residents are eligible to receive a voucher for
$60 worth of free recycling. Contact PRC for details.
Materials are recycled at a per-item fee. On-site payment is
accepted via cash, check or card. Note: CPU (towers) and laptops
are accepted at no cost.

Chalfant Borough is excited to welcome back the Woodland Hills Youth Baseball Association to the field at Chalfant Servicemen’s Memorial Park for the 2026 season. All practice and game times are listed on the event calendar on our website’s homepage.

Door-to-Door Solicitation Permits

Solicitation permits are required in Chalfant. To obtain a permit, please call the borough office at 412-823-6500 or email chalfantborough@gmail.com to schedule an appointment.

There are no current solicitation permits.

Residents do not need to open their doors or provide information to solicitors. If you think a solicitor is operating in the borough without a permit, please dial 911

2026 Holiday Garbage Collection

Memorial Day: collection delayed until Saturday, May 30th.

Labor Day: collection delayed until Saturday, September 12th.

Thanksgiving: collection delayed until Saturday, November 28th.

Christmas: collection delayed until Saturday, December 26th.

New Year’s Day: collection delayed until Saturday, January 2nd (2027)

Please note, regular Friday collection is scheduled for the week of June 29th, as Independence Day occurs on a Saturday.

Update from our Tax Collector

Tax Collector Carol Donahue is available to meet with residents at the Borough Building (14 Lynnwood Avenue), for pre-scheduled appointments that can be made by contacting her at 412-824-3283. Tax Collector Donahue can be reached by telephone during business hours from Monday through Friday between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. If a message is left, the Tax Collector will return the call no later than the next business day. All calls made on the weekends will go to her voicemail and will be answered on the following Monday.

For residents paying installments for the Woodland Hills 2020 School Tax, the deadline for the first installment payment is due October 31, 2020. All payments must be postmarked by no later than October 31, 2020 or be dropped off at the Borough Building by no later than October 31, 2020. Any payment received after that date will not be eligible for the installment payments. Any questions can be directed to the Tax Collector.
